You are a perfect creation here for a perfect purpose and reason. What’s the reason, you ask? The reason is self-expressed by every role you have played your entire life. The reason comes through in every choice and decision you have made and by every interaction with every person you have ever met.

You have been a key part of the endless creative expression of life.

This purpose will continue from this moment forward. It will be decided in your next thought and response. It will be decided in your next action and reaction. It will be expressed all the days of your life. It is not a question of if you have a reason or a purpose for being here now but rather how you will choose to express your reason for being.

What role will you decide to play?

The journey you have been on is one in which you may have been unaware of the hows and whys of life. This is now all changing. You are starting to see a connection between what you believe about yourself to be true and what happens in your life. You are getting wiser to the way the universe creates itself. An empowering and liberating understanding is right on your horizon.

The set, the scenery and all the other actors and actresses is how life supports you on this journey of self-discovery. It is how it is supporting you right now with these words. The entire supporting cast needed to serve every one of your deepest truths is what life will continue to bring you. That is why searching within to discover what truths run your life is so vital: Self-awareness is true power.

Only when you discover these truths will you see which of these vital beliefs have been driving story lines of your play.  You may find that they may no longer serve your story line.

How exciting is it to be coming to the conclusion that you are the lead actor, the director of each act, and the one who is writing the script? Just because the first few acts of your life have left you feeling less than fulfilled or discontent, it doesn’t mean the next ten acts can’t be the most enjoyable ones yet. The direction of the play can change at any moment. When you perceive and react to life from a greater understanding of the purpose of it all, a whole new world begins to open up for you.

This moment, what does it mean? What is its purpose? Welcome to your next scene and act. It is yours to write. You can change it all if you’d like right now. And remember, life will support you and any new directorial vision. Trust this. It will support you because you are always and forever the most important lead role, writer and director there ever was, ever is, and ever will be. That is how much you matter. That is how much you are loved.

“Three things can not be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” –Buddhist teachings.

Karma, nobody can escape it. It is not a matter of if you can avoid the eventual reckoning with truth in your life but only a matter of when the day comes that you realize it is the only way to true peace of mind. The question is, “How much pain from living a lie do you have to put yourself through first?” Lance Armstrong seems to have finally reached the understanding that the gig is up. Whether or not he is using this come clean moment to seize control again of how things unfold in his life or whether this is truly a “come to truth” moment remains to be seen. Either way, it is a powerful first step towards reconciling years of lying, cheating, maligning and stealing. It is the beginning of the way out of a dead end street. Interestingly, as with all dead ends, the only way out of the dead end is to turn and face everything you did and everyone you passed on your decent into the abyss.

The big lesson of awareness in this for everyone is the amazing and elegant way life works. There are no shortcuts to happiness and true fulfillment. Negative conditions must be reversed and more powerful, truthful and loving choices must ensue. The lust for power and respect through force and manipulation simply does not work. Endless dictators who met fateful ends are surely a part of this proof. Love and true respect must come through a greater love, understanding and acceptance of your own self and all others in the world around you.

Lance obviously had a misunderstood view of himself and what he though he needed to do to survive in our world that started from a very young age. His cancer experience only compounded the issue. This misunderstanding was the beginning of his road of misguided choices and the immediate buildup of negative karma that followed. The lies, justifications, denials and delusions were all part of the work of a desperate ego to maintain the illusion of the title winner, important, loved, respected. The irony being that there is no shortcut to this grace filled stature. The more one is in desperate need for these things the more it reveals how little one really feels about themselves. The karma being the reality of that vital truth must come to be. This something Lance is feeling more than ever as he embarks on a potential new way of living his life.

Legendary stature in the eyes of an adoring pubic is a sacred space. Actually, stature and respect from anyone in your life is sacred. Trust is a big unspoken part of the equation. Violating this trust has a karma that may last for years.  It will certainly take longer to get any of it back than two full disclosure interviews. However, the important thing is that it is a start. As with all journeys of reversing a destructive negative karma, you have to start somewhere and the great message for all of us is that there is no better place than the full, naked and unguarded truth right here and right now.

If we knew the formula we could sell it like lightening in a bottle. The state of mind that is pure contentment. Peace of mind. It is the feeling that all is right with our world and our place within it.  The big question is how does one get to into this state and even more importantly how does one make it last?

Getting to this state of mind comes down to redefining the way you look at yourself and your circumstance. It is about realizing that you are never without the great power of choice. When I say choice I mean the choice you can make in any moment to accept where you are, who you are, and how you got here. These are critical choices in the effort to realize the power you hold right now to change it going forward. Disharmony comes when we lose perspective and we see no way forward. It is when our mind limits the possibilities that we see for our life that we feel out of balance. Therefore, the realization that life can change at any moment along with the realization that you hold the power to create change can be very liberating and can immediately put you into a state of mind where you now everything will be ok.

A second way of getting to a peaceful place of mind is realizing without a shadow of a doubt that life is here to support you on your journey. The important question is what is it supporting? The answer is always inside you. It is always supporting your truth. That is why self-inquiry into what you believe to be true about yourself is so vital to personal liberation. Discovering how you see yourself and your world is the key to understanding why you are in your current of circumstance. What may be even more important is that self-awareness reveals the doorway out as well.

Lasting peace and contentment can only come from a greater understanding about the way life works with you in every moment. This understanding comes when you have a will and thirst for awareness and knowledge that is greater than any yearning you have ever had before. At the same time you must be unafraid to face and challenge any beliefs you may have held for years that may simply no longer be true for you.

It is possible to achieve a peace that graces you each day of your life, but there is a road of requirement. Like all roads, those that stay on them the longest and demonstrate the most will to arrive at their destination are the ones that eventually get there. This opportunity is available to you every day. The greatest road to this ultimate destination is the road of consistent self-inquiry and those who are dedicated to this particular journey and can withstand all the twists and turns along the way are the ones that are graced with eventual “understanding that bringeth all peace” .

How does one break this cycle? How does one truly change their behavior where it becomes effortless and natural? How does one get to a state where they do not have to force themselves into change but rather automatically become the change they seek?

These are powerful questions with magical answers to those who truly want them. Behaviors do not change with any high rate of success by way of force. To see this all you have to do is look anyone who is stuck in a destructive pattern of behavior. No matter what the consequences or punishment they are threatened with, in many cases the thoughts, impulses and actions don’t seem to change.  That’s why so many who go to jail and then get out seem to find their way back. There is something much stronger at work in the mind. Behavioral impulses and decisions come from certain thoughts and feelings which create energy. This energy is what forms the actions. So the vital question really comes down to where do our thoughts come from?

Everything you do is a result of what you feel you need to do to survive in a way that defines you best. Notice I didn’t say “a way that honors your highest aspirations” or “a way that allows you to live to your fullest potential”. I said in a way that DEFINES you best. You are a captive to your story or your truth until you decide to CHANGE THE STORY. Every thought, feeling and action determines what you will choose to do next, good or bad. It leads you to every one of your experiences.

Here is the good news and a real powerful little secret of life. Everyday can be a New Years day for you. You CAN decide to change your identity and how you choose to define yourself in the world. You CAN make changes that last and do not require a struggle or an effort. You CAN do all of this in any moment you choose. Everyday or really any moment can be a celebration of a clean slate of life and a new year ahead for you.

What is required for true change is a will that is strong enough that it surpasses all fear. It requires a desire for change that is bigger that any worry of what’s next. You must simply decide who you are and how you want to demonstrate this new you and you must act before you have time to let your thoughts talk you out of it. You must be willing to take the journey to a deeper and more empowering understanding of who you really are.

The reward for this type of will is the celebration of a new way of life and a truly New Year ahead.

At the end of last year I was asked by my publisher to write another book. After writing I AM, I didn’t know if I had it in me. There is so much more to discuss over the coming years about I AM and what is truly in the layers of books the pages. However, I decided to I put a pen to paper. After a year of writing I just put the last words on the first draft of the manuscript. The next book will be out sometime next year. I am honored and excited to share what has come through next.

The recent event in Connecticut was an unfathomable tragedy. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I wish only the deepest thoughts of unconditional love, healing and peace to every family member and friend who is grieving. Each moment is so precious.

The only way to prevent more of this senselessness is to acknowledge that there are still so many who need to know that they matter, that they are loved and that there is a place for them in this world. They need to know before it’s too late for them and other innocent people.

Therefore, let this day be a catalyst to increase your love of your fellow man and woman tenfold. Let todays events not harden your heart and send you into anger, fear and vengeance, for that is the consciousness and energy that led to this tragedy in the first place.

Instead choose love. Choose it greater than you have ever chosen it before. Smile bigger at everyone you see. Help your neighbor and fellow man when it is needed. Make it a point be a beacon of such light each day that these powerful ripples of love touch as many as possible.

There is no other answer.

1. Take a moment each day for perspective and gratitude.
Perspective is a key to life. Taking a moment of remembrance each day for all you DO HAVE in your life can immediately put you in a powerful and balanced mindset of confidence and abundance rather than fear and lack. Make this a daily practice.

2. Accept the perfection of your past
Non-acceptance is what keeps you stuck in time. When you are stuck in time you are not creative or powerful. The truth is that every moment of your life has had meaning and purpose for you on your journey. The self-evident truth is you have always done the best you could have in any of your past moments. Liberating yourself from the past by accepting it allows you to be in the powerful and creative present moment.

3. Pay Attention to what is always right In front of you.
Your universe is always serving you! When you open to this truth you start to really look at what you have presented yourself and how it relates to the exact, deep and sincere questions you have asked about life. Presence of mind is what reveals all you truly desire to know about your life. Can you see what you have brought yourself right here, right now in these words!

4. Stop resisting “what is”
You cannot change what already “is” but you can finally accept “what is” and effectively work from this truth to create new conditions and a new experience for tomorrow. Your resistance is part of the force that is keeping what you don’t want to experience a part of your current reality.

5. Become aware of negative energy in your life
The news, your friends, your family or strangers will, at one time or another, attempt to present you with negativity. Do not be fooled into becoming affected by this energy. Drama can bring you down and suppress your powerful creativity. Always choose LOVE. Have the strength to stay positive and loving no matter who or what attempts to change you or convince you otherwise. Love and positivity are the most effective and magical ways of creating a fulfilling life.
