Lance Armstrong and The Power of Karma

Lance Armstrong and The Power of Karma

“Three things can not be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” –Buddhist teachings. Karma, nobody can escape it. It is not a matter of if you can avoid the eventual reckoning with truth in your life but only a matter of when the day comes that you realize it is the only way to true peace of mind. The question is, “How much pain from living a lie do you have to put yourself through first?” Lance Armstrong seems to have finally reached the understanding that the gig is up. Whether or not he is using this come clean moment to seize control again of how things unfold in his life or whether this is truly a “come to truth” moment remains to be seen. Either way, it is a powerful first step towards reconciling years of lying, cheating, maligning and stealing. It is the beginning of the way out of a dead end street. Interestingly, as with all dead ends, the only way out of the dead end is to turn and face everything you did and everyone you passed on your decent into the abyss. The big lesson of awareness in this for everyone is the amazing and elegant way life works. There are no shortcuts to happiness and true fulfillment. Negative conditions must be reversed and more powerful, truthful and loving choices must ensue. The lust for power and respect through force and manipulation simply does not work. Endless dictators who met fateful ends are surely a part of this proof. Love and true respect must come through a greater love, understanding and acceptance of your own self and all others in the world around you. Lance obviously had a misunderstood view of himself and what he though he needed to do to survive in our world that started from a very young age. His cancer experience only compounded the issue. This misunderstanding was the beginning of his road of misguided choices and the immediate buildup of negative karma that followed. The lies, justifications, denials and delusions were all part of the work of a desperate ego to maintain the illusion of the title winner, important, loved, respected. The irony being that there is no shortcut to this grace filled stature. The more one is in desperate need for these things the more it reveals how little one really feels about themselves. The karma being the reality of that vital truth must come to be. This something Lance is feeling more than ever as he embarks on a potential new way of living his life. Legendary stature in the eyes of an adoring pubic is a sacred space. Actually, stature and respect from anyone in your life is sacred. Trust is a big unspoken part of the equation. Violating this trust has a karma that may last for years.  It will certainly take longer to get any of it back than two full disclosure interviews. However, the important thing is that it is a start. As with all journeys of reversing a destructive negative karma, you have to start somewhere and the great message for all of us is that there is no better place than the full, naked and unguarded truth right here and right now. A New & Powerful Way To Understand Your EGO

A New & Powerful Way To Understand Your EGO

For years the ego has been made to be the bad guy, the scapegoat and the source of all of our troubles and suffering on the path to a peaceful life. Many spiritual teachers from many disciplines have been passing information on to students focusing on the ego and the suffering and mayhem it is said to cause. We have heard many comments such as, “Learn to control your ego”, or “you must destroy your ego to be free”, or “become ego-less”. Maybe it is time for this understanding to evolve. How about a new way to look at ego? A more practical way that reveals its purpose and perfection for your life and does not include resistance but rather the powerful mindset of acceptance. The ego is not a good or a bad thing, it is not against you and it is not out to cause you harm. The ego is you best friend and most loyal servant and is most powerful for you when it is understood. The way it works is like this. You have beliefs about what is true about yourself and your world. The ego like the dedicated actor that sticks perfectly to the script, takes these beliefs and goes out into the world to confirm, validate and protect what you “think” is true but have not yet come to “know” is true. Therefore, whatever thoughts, feelings and actions you are going through at any moment, is the work of the ego trying to makes sure that what you believe to be true is confirmed in your reality. For example, lets say someone makes a comment about you that is unbecoming. If you are not at peace with who you are this will “affect” you and your ego will need to go to work to reconcile this comment by either getting angry at them, making an off comment about them, reassuring yourself through the confirmation from others, (That’s not true about me right?) and on and on until you are not affected any longer. In another example lets say you get let go from your job. The belief that says, “I AM a provider” is now in direct opposition with the truth for the moment. The ego will now kick into high gear to work to create a new job and quell the current disharmony between mind and reality. There are millions of examples of ways the ego works to make sure one is living their truth, which is revealed in plenty of life’s joys and often includes much of one’s self-sabotage to make sure all is in harmony with our deepest truths. The acronym Energy Goes Out, E-G-O is a way to look at this vital mechanism that takes mind and validates it in matter, that takes thought and manifests it in reality, that takes the sense of “I” and confirms it through the experience of “AM”. No one is without an ego. Some people’s egos may be more obvious and working much harder than others to validate their existence, but nonetheless, everyone is graced with this vital part of our being that manages our experiences for us. Understanding this is huge step towards self mastery because instead of fighting what your ego is doing and trying to resist it, you can now become more of an observer and see that the egos actions are connected to a deeper truth you have held that may need to be reevaluated. Another major step on your ongoing journey of self-awareness and the expansion of consciousness. Much love… Howard Falco Howard Falco, is the author of...

Questions & Answers About Life Part 1

Posted on Oct 28, 2009

The following are questions submitted in a recent webinar I held in October titled “Master Your Reality”. Each week a few new questions and responses from the event will be posted. QUESTION: how do we make sure we don’t let self-love and self-awareness cross the line into selfishness and egotistic behavior? RESPONSE: By understanding the distinct difference in the two. Serving oneself as a way to run from a negative state of mind is egotistic behavior and is temporary. Serving oneself as a way to liberate the cause of a negative state of mind through self-awareness and understanding, lasts forever and leads to unconditional love of the self and others. Egotistic behavior is behavior that serves the self at the expense of others. Practicing self-awareness and self-love is behavior that serves the self-leading to the benefit of all others. Egotistic and selfish behavior comes from the need to feel better about yourself as it relates to other people. Self-awareness brings you to self-love through the realization that there is no better or worse but that all people are equal and perfect as is. Since the work of the ego diminishes through self-awareness, selfishness as a concept dissolves as well because there is no longer a purpose for it. Through self-love he opposite actually occurs where helping and sharing with others when needed or asked becomes an automatic response. You realize through awareness of the self that nothing can ever truly be lost or taken away from you which is a very liberating way to live. In the fear dominated ego mind you fear that everything can be taken away and you work hard and often times selfishly to protect your age, money, beauty, image, possessions, status, rank, power, etc… A futile and energy draining cycle. QUESTION: Other then meditation, what are some ways to balance and center ourselves day to day? RESPONSE: Focus on all you do have and all you have to be grateful for rather than what you think you do not have. Realize that all the context of the experience of life is a choice made by you and how you choose to interpret it in each moment. Come to know and love the perfection that you are in this moment and the perfection for everything that is occurring in your life. Remember, it is not happening TO you but rather FOR you. Challenge the purpose of these occurrences until you come to love the rest of the world for the moment by moment perfection that it is…after all, it’s all there to support you on your never-ending journey…… QUESTION: Once we recognize our reality for what it really is, what is the next step? RESPONSE: The next step is the same as it was before your discovery, you choose. Except this time you are creating with the knowledge and understanding of your unlimited ability to create life as you desire it to be. In addition to this you are creating from a new level of unconditional love for yourself and the world around you. Therefore, what you create generally alines with “serving” others in some way on the path to the same powerful & liberating understanding 🙂 More coming soon… Check out my website for more information at...
